Meet Sammy

Sammy dedicated 20 years to the Air Force, working in logistics and supporting flightline operations. His service included deployments to Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm, Korea, and various countries in the Pacific. Sammy faced numerous hazards, including high stress, exposure to jet fuel fumes, and chemicals.

Sammy learned about Project One Vet through Lyle and Amy Rosin, fellow service members who shared POVAT’s mission with him during a retirement ceremony.

Initially, Sammy received a 0% VA rating despite worsening conditions and additional service-related issues. With POVAT’s expert guidance and support, Sammy successfully navigated the claims process and achieved a 90% rating.

Sammy’s new rating provided the stability he needed in retirement, offering relief after a significant cut in retirement benefits. He is immensely grateful to POVAT for their remarkable assistance.

Remembering Senior Airman Mark Forester, KIA September 29, 2010

POVAT’s Chairman/Co-Founder Will Markham represents The Patriot Fund as its Executive Director while introducing Warrior Canine Connection’s Forester to the world. Will remains close to Mark’s family and their nonprofit, The Mark Forester Foundation.

Meet Forester

The latest puppy from @warriorcanineconnection’s most recent litter.

He recently transitioned from the Healing Quarters to his Puppy Parent who will help support, nurture, and train Forester. The journey to becoming a fully trained Service Dog for a Veteran can take approximately two years.

Warrior Canine Connection utilizes its Mission Based Trauma Recovery model to help wounded Warriors reconnect with life, their families, their communities, and each other.

We are glad to know that Mark still has a part in helping veterans in need. And Warrior Canine Connection is a worthwhile organization where you can consider donating. 2021 brought its largest Service Dog Team Graduation to date!
